In this course, students will learn the basics of flamenco singing, emphasizing diaphragmatic breathing and voice placement or “impostación.” The class will start building upon basic cante repertoire such as sevillanas, tangos,fandangos and rumbas. The class will also focus on flamenco rhythms and handclapping, flamenco scales and terminology so students can communicate in the traditional lingo with guitarists and flamenco dancers. Right now we are working on the bulería titled "Aire" by José Mercé and a set of seguiriyas for baile (dance).
