ONLY FOR BALLET HISPANICO STUDENT!!! This workshop will introduce partcipants to flamenco “cante” (song) with an emphasis on structure of the verses, phrasing and “compás” (rhythm), and applicaƟon to flamenco dance and choreography. Learn the history of the “alegrías” and the “palo” or flamenco style within its historical context and development. Excellent for dancers who wish to strengthen their understanding of how to work with the cante. You do not need to sing; you only need to dance in this workshop. No previous knowledge of the Spanish language is required. Printed material will be handed out with translaƟons of the lyrics and the structure of the dance. It is highly recommended to bring a recording device to this class.
