This is the second time that dancer Irene Álvarez and guitarist Alexander Gavilán collaborate with visual artist Peter Van Hecke, who investigates how to depict the invisible. In a spatial composition, he attempts to visualize the fine vibrations between the musicians and the listener. This time, they are accompanied by Sevillian singer Alfonso Mogaburo Cid and percussionist Udo Demandt. Alfonso’s voice leaves no one indifferent. His vocal art reflects not only his technical skill, but also his emotional depth and artistic passion. With his powerful voice and captivating interpretations, he knows how to touch the heart of his audience while keeping the rich cultural heritage of flamenco alive and renewing it.
Udo is a renowned multidisciplinary percussionist, born in Germany and educated in world music, latin, brazilian music and flamenco at the Conservatory “Codarts” (Rotterdam, Netherlands), where he currently teaches various percussion disciplines. His originality in accompanying and his skill in playing instruments such as cajón, framedrums, darbuka, tamburello, pandeiro and drums, make him a sought-after percussionist with numerous latin and flamenco ensembles.
The quartet goes all out for traditional flamenco with the intention of touching the “inner chord”. The installation that visual artist Peter Van Hecke builds around this concert, lets us experience these vibrations – resonancias – in a totally unexpected way.
