The Aga Khan Museum’s 10th annual Duende Flamenco Festival: Vida Al Andalus explores the multi-disciplinary nature of flamenco and its continually evolving modes of expression through an exciting celebration of dance, music, and film.

Alfonso Cid

Born in Seville, Spain, Alfonso Cid is a renowned Flamenco singer and flute player who has been a professional musician in the U.S. since 1997. Based in New York City, he has performed with many top Flamenco companies and artists across the country. Alfonso’s expertise extends beyond Flamenco, incorporating various musical styles in his work as a music educator. He has been a Spanish teacher at the East Village Community School since 2008, using music as a tool to enhance language learning. He also collaborates with Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana, teaching Flamenco music and accompanying dancers in educational programs and residencies for over 25 years.

Guillermo Guillén

Guillermo Guillén is a highly skilled and versatile flamenco guitarist, composer, and arranger. Born and raised in France and trained in Spain, he has performed and taught flamenco internationally for over 20 years. His dynamic approach makes him a sought-after collaborator for both traditional flamenco and experimental projects. Guillermo is also the founder of FlamencoMaps, an online educational resource and YouTube channel that has reached thousands of flamenco enthusiasts worldwide with its effective instructional videos and classes. He currently resides in the New York City area.
